Play with PPA #135

Happy Thursday! It's time to Play with the Pals! Pals Paper Arts has the talented Margaret Moody to provide us with monthly sketches. This one looks simple, but I found it kind of hard to get going with! Let's see what you can do with it!

I used the *new* Summer Starfuit Stampin' Write Marker to color and dot the center square for this sketch. For the ends of the "Kindness Matters" banner I used a stamp from the set of the same name. I stamped onto Whisper White using *new* Summer Starfruit (available June 1st) ink and then carefully used paper snips to cut around the design, one for each end.

The *new* Stampin' Pads that are Firm Foam rather than our previous style, are so juicy! You don't need to press hard and you can cover those thirsty stamps a whole lot quicker! I really am enjoying using them so far. The new Stampin' Pads will be available to customers on June 1st. It's only about two weeks away!

The layer underneath the sentiment is also *new* Summer Starfruit card stock that I ran through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. The designer paper I used is from the new "Floral District" which is also available on June 1st.

Summer Starfruit Kindness Card Supplies:
Card Stock: Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Floral District
Stamps: Kindness Matters
Ink: Basic Black, Summer Starfruit
Big Shot: Square Lattice Embossing Folder
Etc: Stampin' Write Marker, "Summer Starfruit"
Adhesives: Snail, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals

Denim and Diamonds Congratulations!

Hello! Lots of folks will be graduating this month and next, so I thought I'd show you one of the cards I made for a friend who is graduating from college. I used school colors, of course, and some of the sneak peek products from the upcoming 2012 Catalog.

I love how the denim ribbon looks against both the Night of Navy and the Tangerine Tango designer paper. I added the "diamonds" as a dressy contrast to the casual ribbon.

Now for those new products! I love this sentiment from Layered Labels. There are four labels in the set, each elegant and luscious in their own right! You can see that I have used the new Apothecary Framelits to precisely cut around the stamped image! The second of the four Framelits was used with the striped Tangerine Tango designer paper to add some contrast. I LOVE these shapes! You will be able to order these stamps and Framelits June 1st.

Graduation Card Supplies:
Card Stock: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango
Designer Series Paper: Brights Patterns
Stamps: Layered Labels (Available June 1st)
Ink: Tangerine Tango
Big Shot: Framelits "Apothecary Accents" (available June 1st)
Embellishments: Basic Rhinestones, Navy Denim ribbon
Adhesives: Snail, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! Even if you aren't a mom, you can honor any mom in your life. At my workshop last week, we made these Mother's Day cards. But, I had a problem. Three of those in attendance were to get a Mother's Day card from me, so I had to design all-new cards to mail to them! Anyone who was not at the workshop would get the card I designed for everyone else to make.

I don't know why I had so much Flirtatious Specialty designer paper, but I did. I decided to pair it with the retiring Peach Parfait card stock and some of the retiring gross grain ribbon. In the center I used Flower Brads that are also retiring at the end of the month.

Aren't these cut-out doily shapes from the specialty paper just delicate and so girly? I know my sisters-in-law and my friend will appreciate them! And those Edgelits in Peach Parfait and Whisper White just add such elegance.

Here is a close up of the layers on this card. Yummy! I hope that you feel special today if you are a mom! My favorite Mother's Day memory is when my son wrote me a letter of "thanks" for all of the "mom" things I did for him. He was in high school. I still have it hanging up in my closet and love to read it often! It didn't cost anything but a few minutes and I will always treasure it.

Mother's Day Card Supplies:
Card Stock: Whisper White, Peach Parfait, Melon Mambo, Pretty In Pink
Designer Series Paper: Flirtatious Specialty
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Melon Mambo
Punches: 1-3/4" Circle
Big Shot: Edgelits
Embellishments: Flower Brads, 1/8" Whisper White gross grain ribbon
Adhesives: Snail, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionsals

Mother's Day--It's Not Too Late!

If you haven't already made your mom or the moms in your life a card, you still have time! This card is really quick and easy. I was inspired by this card from Rita Wright. My stamping friends joined me last week for a night of card-making for the moms in their life. We had a blast putting all of these pieces together!

I love the two-layered Pretty In Pink petals! I used up a lot of my Cheerful Treat (Hostess) Designer Series paper because today I placed my pre-order of new papers, ink pads, In Colors and other cool tools from the 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog! I can't wait to touch and use those goodies, but I really need to make room!

I just had to use the popped up banner again! I love banners. 2012 has some new banner items, so stay tuned! Thank you for joining me today! Have a pleasant weekend. I'll be showing you my other Mother's Day designs on Sunday.

Mother's Day Workshop Card Supplies:
Card Stock: Melon Mambo, Pretty In Pink, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Cheerful Treat (Hostess)
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Melon Mambo
Big Shot: Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Fun Flowers Die, Petal Cone Die
Punches: Boho Blossoms, Itty Bitty Shapes
Embellishments: Basic Pearls

May Pals Blog Hop -- Retirement Party!

It's a Retirement Party! It's the Pals Blog Hop! It's the Pals Retirement Party Blog Hop! Today the Stampin' Pretty Pals are sharing some fabulous cards and projects showcasing our favorite retiring products! You've probably hopped over from Nicole Watt at Impressions by Nicole, I'm stop number 9 on the Pals Hop and I'm glad you hopped in! I'll help you "hop along" from blog to blog where you'll find great ideas for retiring Stampin' Up! products from the Stampin' Pretty Pals! Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you'll be back on track.

I am really going to miss all of the In Colors from 2010, however I am looking forward to five new colors to spend two years with us! I chose to use Concord Crush for today's Retirement Party. It is a very dark and rich color, and I must admit photographing it was difficult! It came out looking navy, so I had to adjust using my photo program.

Here you can see that I used White Embossing Powder and White Craft Ink to ink my (retiring) Triple Treat Flower stamp. I stamped onto Concord Crush card stock. I punched out the middle of the flower using the (retiring) 5-Petal Punch. Honestly, I'm not sure I will part with this punch OR this stamp! I try to keep very few retired products, but punches are hard to give up!! I have made lots of blossoms in the past using the 5-Petal punch! The main flower, which is stamped in Concord Crush ink onto Whisper White card stock is punched out with the Fancy Flower punch, which thankfully is not retiring!

The Happy Birthday sentiment from Party This Way (not retiring!) is stamped in Concord Crush onto a Whisper White banner from the Petal Cone die. I scored it and it pops right off the card to greet the receiver!

I hope you enjoyed my card and that you will come back often to see what I'm up to! Don't forget that you still have until May 31st to order retiring products! You can use my Website to order.

Retirement Party Birthday Card Supplies:
Card Stock: Concord Crush (retiring), Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Patterns In Colors 2010-2012 (retiring)
Stamps: Triple Treat Flower (retiring), Party This Way
Ink: Concord Crush (retiring), Whisper White Craft
Punches: 5-Petal Flower (retiring), Fancy Flower

So Baja Calypso Easel Card For Pals Paper Arts

Welcome to the PPA #134 Color Challenge! I hope our Design Team offerings inspire you to make a card or project with our colors in mind. You can play along by uploading your card to our website. I enjoy the discipline of challenges, as they really make me get out of my comfort zone. I usually end up liking what I've created from them and knowing I don't get stuck in the "same old, same old" mold.

Here is a close up of my sentiment. I could have put it down one panel, but I liked having it above so I could write a personal note on the blank spot on the Baja Breeze card stock.
This is the part that holds the card when you stand it up. The So Saffron card stock is adhered to the Baja Breeze using Stampin' Dimensionals so that the front panel of the card will "catch" on it and hold it open.

Easel Card Dimensions:
Baja Breeze: cut to 4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2" and 8-1/2"
So Saffron Flap Stop: 2-1/2" x 4"
Baja Breeze Card Front: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
So Saffron Tulip Piece: 4" x 5-1/4"

I used two soon-to-retire stamps on today's card: Triple Treat Flower and the sentiment from Trendy Trees. These stamps are available through May 31st. Also, the Dotted Scallop Border and 5-Petal Flower punches and the Modern Label Magnetic Movers and Shapers Die will retire on May 31st.

Thank you for looking today! I am so appreciative of my subscribers and those of you who spend your time looking at my cards. I appreciate your comments! And to all of my online customers, a big THANK YOU! Your questions, participation in my workshops and your orders keep me Stampin' Up!

PPA134 Easel Card Supplies:
Card Stock: Calypso Coral, Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Patterns Subtles
Stamps: Triple Treat Flower, Trendy Trees (front sentiment), God's Blessings (inside sentiment)
Ink: Calypso Coral, So Saffron
Stampin' Write Markers: Baja Breeze
Big Shot: Magnetic Movers & Shapers w/ punch windows, Framed Tulips Embossing Folder
Punches: Dotted Scallop Border, Itty Bitty Shapes, Modern Label, Fancy Flower, 5-Petal Flower, Word Window
Embellishments: Basic Pearls, Baja Breeze Seam Binding
Adhesives: Snail, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots
