PPA 82--Scallops

Scallops! I had them for dinner last night, but these scallops are much prettier! Our theme at Pals Paper Arts is scallops! How will you make them a part of your project??

I really did not use the blues in my card because of this photo, but rather just by wanting to use the birdie print from the Botannical Gazette Designer Series Paper (Occasions Mini).

Here's how I made my scallops: I lined up seven 3/4" circles cut from Not Quite Navy. They just happened to fit across my birdie print, which is cut to 5-1/4" x 3".

I used the piece of 5-1/4" x 1" First Edition Designer Series Paper (Occasions Mini) to make sure my circles were straight as I adhered them across the card.

I added MORE scallops by double-matting my sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes with an oval and the oval scallop punch. I thought some pearls and a nice Marina Mist taffeta bow were appropriate!

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you enjoyed my project. Please email me with any questions you may have. I would love to help you with your own cards or any other paper crafts.

Card Supplies:
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy
Designer Series Paper: Botanical Gardens, First Edition
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Marina Mist
Punches: 1-3/8" x 5/8" oval, 1-3/4" x 7/8" oval, Scallop oval, Scallop Edge
Other: Stampin' Dimensionals, 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Marina Mist

Random Blog Candy!!

8" x 8" pieces

Smaller scraps

Hi Everyone!

I pinned folded each of four pieces of fabric in half, then "weaved" them together and pinned them. I used a needle and thread to hand sew them together, but you could machine stitch them or probably glue them using a glue gun.

This is what it looked like before I added the pin back with a glue gun. I used the glue gun to glue on the retired felt flower in the middle. You could also use a button and some rhinestones.

Last Minute Valentine-EASY!

This is so simple! You can put it together very quickly. One card out of Crumb Cake, one Full Heart punched out of Red Glimmer paper, one stamp from Cute By the Inch, one length of 3/8" twill tape, a few pierces and some Stampin' Dimensionals!

Here is the full stamp, which I covered up with the heart. It looks like the piece of wood is holding the glimmer heart up. This card would be great for a guy or a gal!

PPA 80 Those Were the Days~Vintage

Today I'm so excited because I stepped out of my comfort zone for a Vintage project! You can use the photo above for inspiration, but remember that you don't have to use the same colors as the photo---it's just for you to get started.

I am in LOVE with this First Edition Designer Series Paper (Occasions Mini). It is thinner than most of the Stampin' Up! and is easier to manipulate. I cut my scallops out of it, then ran them through the crimper two different ways. I used my fingernails to "age" the edges. I put an antique brad into the middle of my flower.

Aren't the bees sweet? That is the Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini.

I am so glad you stopped by to see what I created for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge. Are you ready to go vintage? What are you waiting for?

Supplies List:
Card Stock: So Saffron, Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla
Designer Series Paper: Specialty First Edition, Botanical Gazette
Stamps: Define Your Life
Ink: Basic Black, River Rock (edges)
Accessories: Scallop Circle, 1-3/4" and 2-3/8" Scallop Circle, Antique Brad, crimper, sponge dauber, (with River Rock ink pad)

When you need some great vintage supplies for your projects, use my fast and easy Website!

Pals Paper Arts Celebrity Color Challenge #79

Ashley Cannon Newell is our Celebrity Color Challenge Guest. Check out her blog and see her work. She is an inspiration!

Another fantastic group of colors! At first I did NOT know what to do with these colors. Then I figured to just put the two that I thought the most "opposite" together. Of course, they are not opposite at all, but go together very well. I started with a neutral color of Crumb Cake and decided to make a card to fit into Stampin' Up's Small Open End envelope (107826-$7.50 for 20). They are a nice size and come in Whisper White.

My Elements of Style hummingbird hovers over the waves of distressed scallops I created with the Scallop Edge Border punch. He is glimmering with Smooch Spritz, but the photo doesn't show it. Each border was cut and then distressed using my fingernails to separate the layers of paper a bit and fold each scallop upwards. Then I used sticky tape to adhere them to my Crumb Cake base.

I cannot wait to see what you have created. Please let me know in the comment section if you played along. I'd love to check out your project!

Stampin' Supplies:
Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Certainly Celery, Rich Razzleberry and Riding Hood Red
Stamps: Elements of Style
Ink: Certainly Celery, Rich Razzleberry
Extras: Scallop Edge Border punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, Stampin' Write Marker in Rich Razzleberry

Build A Blossom Part 2

Here is my second attempt with the Build a Blossom stamp set and the Blossom Petals Punch. You may be tired of seeing these two items from me, but I aim to show you my progress and encourage you to use this stamp set, too! I have already heard from others who bought this, but hadn't tried it yet. I think it's a bit inimidating!

This time, I used the same petals and leaves, but I tried a different technique when stamping the petals. I stamped first in a lighter color, Pretty In Pink, then stamped over it (NOT trying to be perfect) in Rose Red. This is more life-like, I think. Real petals are sometimes variegated, or the edges are darker or lighter depending on variety.

Also, I think it does look better with a ODD number of petals. What do you think? What hints do you have if you are already a pro with this set and the punch?

Next time, I hope to share something other than a traditional-looking flower, so stay-tuned!

Card Supplies:
Card Stock: Whisper White, Pretty In Pink
Designer Series Paper: Lap of Luxury (gray print is my background, adhered to Whisper White card base)
Stamps: Build a Blossom, Elements of Style (sentiment)
Ink: Basic Gray, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red
Accessories: Retired Pretty in Pink Corduroy Button, Very Vanilla 5/8" Satin Ribbon, Basic Pearls, Stampin' Dimensionals, 1" and 1-1/4" Circle Punches, Blossom Petals Punch, Elegant Lines embossing folder, Big Shot

If you are in need of your own Stampin' Up! supplies, please use my website to order. During Sale-A-Bration, you can receive one free item for each $50 you spend in the Idea Book & Catalog or the Occasions Mini Catalog. This is our biggest event of the year, so take advantage now!
