The Envelope, Please! PPA Best Dressed 2010

As a member of the Pals Paper Arts Design Team, I had the privilege of helping judge the First Annual Best Dressed winners! I chose this card by Vicki Burdick. Here is what I wrote about my selection from the month of April:

April Showers bring May flowers, but in this case, the early flowers from Vicki Burdick catch the prize! The challenge was simply "flowers" for PPA37 and I love how Vicki layered her flowers and used the soft and the bold colors to bring out their beauty. They are popped up like poppies in a spring field! The very feminine touches of ribbon, brads and her punch border sealed the deal on April's "Best Dressed!" Thank you for playing, Vicki!

Please check out the year of winners at Pals Paper Arts. I hope that one of your New Year's resolutions will be to play along with us each Thursday morning. It's a easy and fun resolution to keep!

I won't be blogging again until 2011, so I wish you a very happy and SAFE New Year's Eve!

PPA74 Sketch Challenge

This week's challenge at Pals Paper Arts is a sketch by our Design Team Member Margaret Moody. I hope you will play along.

I needed a birthday card for a former high school teacher of mine who is turning 93! I still write to him occasionally, as I have since 1975! "Celebrations" Designer Series Paper seemed just the right thing to use for a 93rd birthday, right?

Stampin Up! Supplies:

Card Stock: Pacific Point, Whisper White, Real Red
Designer Series Paper: Celebrations
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Real Red
Extras: Punches: Word Window, Modern Label; Stampin' Around Wheels: So Many Stars, Birthday, Candle Crazy
Your turn to play along. Use Margaret's sketch and then upload your project to our website. You will be eligible to be one of three Artist Picks of the week! Good luck!

Next week I will be making some projects using preview items from the new Occasions Mini that debuts on January 4th!

Have a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful 2011 everyone!

Gift Card Holders

These gift card holders are for my nephews. We are giving them a night at Medieval Times. I stamped out the calendar and put on the date of the 28th. On the back, I wrote out what the gift was and what time we will pick them up. I took the calendar and "wrapped" a piece of Old Olive card stock around it. I put a piece of sticky tape down the side and across/under where the card should stop so it doesn't get stuck inside the pocket. More sticky tape across the very bottom edge, a popped up tag for their names and a silky knot completes the wrapping of these gifts!

Supply List:
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Pacific Point, Old Olive
Designer Series Paper: Celebrations
Stamps: Full Calendar, Calendar Alphabet & Numbers
Ink: Pacific Point, Old Olive
Extras: 5/8" Satin Ribbon in Old Olive and Real Red; Punches: Word Window, 1-3/4" x 7/8" oval, Round Tab, Stampin' Dimensionals

Pals Paper Arts Get Your Lace in Place!

Below is the inspiration for my card this week. You don't need a pile of lace--snippets will do! I love how this turned out, for many reasons, but LACE is what got me started. I really like the Victoria 5/8" Crochet Trim (118481) that Stampin' Up! introduced this year! It's fancy and it stays in place using your Snail adhesive. Just apply adhesive and start adding your lace. Each 5-yard package will last a long time and can be used in so many ways to add a vintage touch to your projects. At $6.95 it is definitely a bargain!

Won't YOU join us at Pals Paper Arts by playing along? All you need do is make your lacy project and upload it to our site. We all love looking at the projects of those who "play" with us, and you will, too!

Card Elements:
Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede
Designer Series Paper: Deck the Halls
Stamps: Christmas Collage (isolated image)
Ink: Early Espresso
Extras: Word Window and Modern Label Punches, Antique Brads, Victoria Crochet Trim, Early Espresso Stampin' Write Marker

I hope you will leave your comments below. I really enjoy reading each one! If you are interested in ordering any Stampin' Up! you can use my website.

Birthday Blog Hop

Welcome to the December PALS HOP! This month, we're featuring Birthday themed projects for your inspiration! If you've hopped over from Barbara Chatzkel at www.takeoutpaperarts.com, I'm stop number 3 on the PALS HOP and I'm glad you hopped over! I'll help you "hop along" from blog to blog where you'll find great ideas for papercrafted creations from the Stampin' Pretty Pals! Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the PALS HOP LINE-UP below and you'll be back on track!

Birthdays are special, so why not have a special set of stamps for them? I like to make my birthday cards as needed, but also like to have a few on hand for those times when you just forget until the last minute! I love how this one set can be used to make totally different-looking cards. The stamp set is called Birthday Bakery, and you can get it *free* by hosting a workshop! It is a level 1 hostess item, so is fairly easy to earn.

Supplies for this card:
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red
Designer Series Paper: Sweet & Sour Specialty
Stamps: Birthday Bakery
Extras: XL and Large Scallop punches, Modern Label punch, retired Pumpkin Pie striped ribbon, Basic Pearls, Stampin' Write markers

For this card, I used more sedate colors, but then subtly brightened the card by coloring with markers in bright colors like Melon Mambo, Rose Red and Daffodil Delight. I'm ready for the next couple of birthdays that slip my mind until the last minute! I hope you enjoyed looking. Please leave your comments below.

If you need any Stampin' Up! products, I'd love to receive your order via my website.

Supplies for this card:

Card Stock: Naturals Ivory, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla

Stamps: Birthday Bakery, Tags til Christmas

Ink: Early Espresso

Extras: Early Espresso 1/8" taffeta ribbon, 3/4" circle punch, medium oval punch, Scallop Edge punch, Stampin' Dimensionals , Stampin' Write markers

Jolly Holiday Christmas

I had so much fun this week. A couple of friends came over to make these projects above, plus THIS project from an earlier post. We had a great time and got some Christmas presents done in the process! The above items were designed by my upline and Pretty Pal, Mary Fish. She offers a tutorial on exactly how to make them! Step by step instructions will have your projects completed in a flash!
Isn't this luminaria cute? And it's safe because you use one of those cute battery-operated "candles" inside. This was made so fast it's amazing! The windows are Vellum Card Stock that is stamped with Versamark and then embossed with Clear Embossing powder. A pearl is added for some additional dazzle. Think of all the card stock colors and designer papers and punches you could use for your own luminarias. My nieces would love to have these in their room for Christmas!
Mary took apart a Note Card envelope and traced it onto Designer paper. It really jazzed up this greeting. I used the tag cut out from the Matchbox Bigz Die from Cherry Cobbler card stock to mount my greeting. I placed a Stampin' Dimensional at each end, and then crumpled a piece of Silver Waffle paper under it for a little bit of glam. Do you like? I like reading your comments, so please leave one!

If you need your Stampin' Up! supplies replenished, please use my website any time!

PPA 72 Fashion Inspiration--Mystery Blog Candy

Welcome to Winter White--Our Pals Paper Arts Fashion Inspiration! We also have BLOG CANDY this week, so be sure and participate. For the prize this month, participating Design Team members will each be sending their own package of goodies! It will feel like.... CHRISTMAS for the winner!

For my card this week, I was also inspired by this cookie that I picked up at a cute little bakery on Main Street in Seal Beach. I couldn't eat the cookie until I made my card and photographed it! Torture!

For my snowflake, (which didn't photograph as sparkly as it really is) I popped it out of the Snowflake punch, then inked it up with Versamark. Next, I sprinkled on Clear embossing powder and heated it with my heat gun. Then I inked up just the edges with Versamark again and sprinkled each one with Iridescent Ice and embossed it again. That still wasn't enough sparkle, so I HAD to add Rhinestones!! Bling!!

Supply List:
Card Stock: Shimmery White
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Silver/Jet Black Stazon (I inked up with silver first, then the Stazon)
Extras: Silver Waffle paper, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle XL punch, Word Window punch, Snowflake XL punch, Basic Rhinestones, Big Shot, Movers & Shapers with Punch Windows Magnetic dies,
Versamark, Clear Embossing powder, Iridescent Ice, heat gun

I hope you had fun reading and looking. Please leave your comments for me to enjoy later! It helps me know that I'm not talking to "nobody" out there!. I appreciate all of my readers!
