So Saffron Wedding

My friend's son is getting married next month, so I am not wasting any time getting my card ready! Now all I need is a gift. This card was super simple to make, but I think it looks very special.

I made it square to fit Stampin' Up! square envies and I made the envelope flap match, although I didn't picture it here.

I used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder to jazz up the middle part of the card and I attached my sentiment to it and tied a piece of seam tape in a bow.

Cards are quick to put together when you have your punches handy. A little tip that always gets me finished quickly is to have some sentiments already stamped onto neutral papers and then pop them out with a punch. Later you can add your borders in colors and put them together to frame your sentiment. Or, try making several in the same color schemes and have them laying on your desk top for a quick pop onto a plain card. I tell you that no matter how many cards you make, you sometimes don't have just the right sentiment when you need it.

Card Recipe:
Card Stock: So Saffron, Whisper White, Shimmery White
Designer Series Paper: Patterns Pack
Stamps: Blissful Bride
Ink: So Saffron
Extras: Very Vanilla seam tape ribbon, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, 1-3/4" x 7/8" Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslits Die, Big Shot

PPA66-SKETCH

Hmmm. My card matches the Pals Paper Arts Challenge badge! I didn't plan it, but I like it! Black, Red and neutral are always a good bet!

This week's challenge is a sketch, provided by our own Margaret Moody. Margaret cannot actively participate in PPA at the moment, due to a family illness, so if you could say a little prayer for her and her sister, I know she would appreciate it. I'm sure she will be back as soon as possible to play along with us.

For this card, I used the Fancy Flower XL punch, then cut the flowers into pieces for the large scallop border. I got his hot tip from my friend and upline, Mary Fish.

Also, for the sentiment, instead of stamping it the way it is laid out on the rubber, I used my Stampin' Write marker to color and stamp only "THANK", then separately color and stamp the "YOU" underneath. Using clear mount stamps, I just eye-balled it and it came out perfectly!

Here are my card particulars:

Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler
Designer Series Paper: Newsprint
Stamps: Day of Gratitude
Extras: Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker, 3/4" and 1" circle punches, Fancy Flower XL punch, Chantilly 1/2" Crochet Trim, Stampin' Dimensionals

Pals Paper Arts 65- Bring on the Bling!

Happy Thursday! It's time to Play at PPA! This week's challenge is fun because you can make anything and add some BLING to it! Here I have created a cute holder for a small bottle of hand sanitizer that I plan on giving out to some of my gal pals for Halloween. I used the template provided by Erica Cerwin of Pink Buckaroo Designs. Erica regularly plays along with our Pals challenges and I loved her idea of making these holders. You can make these for any holiday or season. Bath & Body Works sells these mini bottles for $1 each, so it makes an inexpensive and useful little gift.

Here is the inside of the holder. I decorated it, too! I cut out the middle of a Lattice die cut. It sorta reminds me of a spider web, but I used Pumpkin Pie instead of Basic Black.

In this close up of my *bling*, you can see how I dressed up an ordinary Pumpkin Pie Designer Button two Basic Black brads from the Vintage Brads box and two different sizes of the Basic Rhinestones in clear.

To finish my project, I used a piece of Peach Parfait 1/2" stitched Poly Ribbon. I hope you enjoyed looking. Let me know if I inspired you at all to create a cute little gift like this. What else could you fit into this holder?

Here is my list of supplies for the above project:

Card Stock: River Rock, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Designer Series Paper: Nite Owl
Stamps: Grateful Greetings
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Big Shot, Lattice Bigz Die, Vintage Brads, Black 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Basic Clear Rhinestones, Designer Buttons, Square Scallop Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Peach Parfait 1/2" stitched poly ribbon

Thank each and every one of you for your comments on my first wedding post (here). The wedding and trip to Hawai'i were perfect in every way. Lots of family and friends were able to travel to the beautiful tropical setting to witness the vows between these wonderful young people. We are so blessed! And, having family in Hawai'i is NOT a bad thing! We already have our next trip planned to visit them in early 2011!

Wedding Day

Today our daughter marries the love of her life. We are all so very happy for her and her new husband. I was surprised at what a daunting task it was for me, a card-maker, to make a card for my own daughter's wedding! I didn't think I could make a card that was "good enough!" The message inside was easy~just our best wishes for a lifetime of happiness.

Pals Paper Arts #63- Celebrity Color Challenge

Pals Paper Arts # 63 is a Celebrity Color Challenge. This week, we have invited the very talented Dawn Olchefske to play along with us! Check out what she and the other designers on our team submitted using these colors:

I made three CUTE Thank You cards in the 3 x 3" size to fit our square gift envelopes. (Cut card stock 3" x 6" and fold) Designer Series "Patterns" papers provided me with the dotted print to match the colors above. I used those colors in the Stampin' Write markers to color my "So Many Thanks" single stamp. I colored in the hearts using a Pretty In Pink Stampin' Write marker.

Thanks for looking and I hope you find something fun to upload so you can play along with us at Pals Paper Arts!

Shopping List:
Card Stock: Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Melon Mambo
Designer Series Paper: Patterns
