Things I Love

Do you realize that the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog is really FULL of ideas? I tend to just look through and look at the products, but take a look with an eye for the PROJECTS and you have a wealth of inspiration!

Here I used the card displayed on page 60 that uses Things I Love stamp set. I changed it up just a bit to make it my own, but you can definitely see the similarities.

PPA 53 - Purples Passion

Good Thursday to you! I hope you are ready to purple it up today because the challenge at

Pals Paper Arts this week is Monochromatic-PURPLES!!!

• I busted out my new IN COLOR (Concord Crush) Patterns Stack Designer Series Paper for this card.
• I used the neutral Crumb Cake card stock as an accent color.
• My image is stamped from the Hostess Level 2 "Cute by the Inch" in Concord Crush ink onto Very Vanilla card stock.
• I have the sentiment peeking out of a folded punched out Concord Crush. I used the Petal Card Extra-Large Double punch to get this fun new shape!
• The striped designer paper is anchored with Crumb Cake brads and framed with Crumb Cake card stock.

PPA 51-Sketch

I finally got to play with my *new* 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog toys! They've been sitting on my desk for over a week. I have been busy and gone on a few trips in the mean time.

I kept it simple due to time constraints, but here is how I made my card:

• Card Base: Pear Pizzazz (In Color)
• Strip: Poppy Parade (In Color) punched out easily with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch
• Square of Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper matted with Peach Parfait (In Color)
• Sentiment from So Cute stamp set, stamped in Pear Pizzazz onto Whisper White
  

• I cut the sentiment and the matte in Peach Parfait free-hand with paper snips
• I decorated the banner with a button from the Designer Brights Buttons

PPA 51-Wedding Theme

Summer is definitely a big wedding season. Get your wedding on with our Pals Paper Arts Wedding Theme challenge! Join us now and upload your project to our site. It's fun to Play at PPA!

I chose some not-so-popular wedding colors for today's card.

• Card base is in Certainly Celery, matted with Soft Suede and a piece of Greenhouse Gala designer series paper.
  
• A Whisper White sentiment stamped in Wild Wasabi (Certainly Celery looked too light) was dolled up using my Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer. It looks like I used Shimmery White paper, but I didn't!
  
• I cut the sentiment out by using my Clearlits Scallop Rectangle Die. It's clear, so you can line it up perfectly around your stamped image.
• A rectangle piece of Soft Suede was used to matte the sentiment and I stamped the cake image in Whisper White Craft Ink onto the Soft Suede.
  
• A bow of Old Olive taffeta creates a border between the sentiment and the cake.

Simple, but elegant and very festive for good wishes to the bride and groom.

PPA50 and Blog Candy

At first I had a hard time with these colors together, but I think they came together just fine!

My card this week qualifies as a Keep It Simple Sweetie card--KISS. Lots of blank space, minimal supplies.

Fabulous Mojo

MOJO Monday 146's sketch was fun! Won't you play along? There is a contest this week, too, so extra fun!

I began with a Cherry Cobbler base, added Very Vanilla, then spruced it up by doing the following:

• Added Cherry Cobbler inked medallions along the left margin
• Glued a piece of 1/8" Early Espresso taffeta ribbon
• Three strips of Early Espresso card stock
• Topped the strips with an oval in Crumb Cake, stamped with an Early Espresso Eiffel Tower
• Free-hand pierced a design around the Eiffel Tower (Artistic Etchings stamp set)
• Used Stampin' Write Early Espresso marker to isolate the sentiment from an Oval All stamp
• Matted the square sentiment with Cherry Cobbler

Ice Cream Birthday

My nephew turned nine last week and I sent him some ice cream parlor gift certificates. This card is a great "match" for such a gift. It was the first time I have used "Smooch Spritz." This first became available in the Summer Mini, and I've had it for over a month now! It worked beautifully with the Color Catcher, a sort of shield to keep only your project (not the wall or your pet!) "smooched!"

Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz (118772 - 4.95) and Color Catcher (121093 - 5.95)

For the ice cream swirls, I first stamped them in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, Very Vanilla Craft Ink, Daffodil Delight Classic Ink onto Whisper White card stock. I had the Chocolate, Vanilla and Lemon flavored cones I desired.

Then I leaned the scrap of paper they were stamped on against the back wall of the Color Catcher. I sprayed the Smooch Spritz in layers until I had the shimmer I was looking for.

The Smooch Spritz can be sprayed on very lightly or more heavily. You can adjust the look by layering it. I then cut the swirls out.

The cones were stamped in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink onto Whisper White and also cut out. Sentiment was cut into a banner shape and anchored onto the card using a Craft/Crumb Cake corduroy brad.

All of the elements were centered onto a background of Soft Suede that I ran through my Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (119976 - $7.95). Card base is Daffodil Delight card stock.

Pals Paper Arts Challenge #49 & Happy New Catalog

Play at Pals PaperArts! Our challenge this week is to make a project that is inspired by the Fireworks Photo above. Of course most would think of Fourth of July, but what do YOU think?

I began with the *new* core color, Cherry Cobbler--available for customers TODAY!! I built a Whisper White frame on top of the card and then added a sparkly night sky of fireworks on top. I used the stamp set July Fourth.

The sparkle was accomplished by stamping the fireworks using Versa Mark and Heat N Stick Powder. After heating it with my heat gun, I added Dazzling Diamonds and heated it once more so the glitter would stick and not be too messy.

For the sentiment, I stamped in Night of Navy right onto the Whisper White panel, then flanked that with Cherry Cobbler stars and a Night of Navy small oval stamped with a sparkler in Whisper White Craft Ink. I framed the small oval with a Cherry Cobbler oval punch. Isn't it spark-tacular???
