Louisiana Blues

I made this for my daughter, who is in her last days of a four-month stay in New Orleans. She is excited to come back home and I am excited to have her for awhile before she continues school in New York in July. I found the license plate at a scrapbook store and the tickets came from an eBay find.  Nothing fancy, just a nice "I Miss You" card for my girl.

Hinged Card

Splitcoast's Technique Lover's Challenge this week was to make a hinged card.  There was even a tutorial, which was most excellent!  I already had the Really Rust part sitting on my desk waiting for "something."  I also had the Pumpkin Pie textured paper finished and waiting.  Last weekend I experimented by inking my Texturz Plate with the ink pad, then placing my paper on top it and running it through my Big Shot.  WOW. It was so cool!  You can make your own designer paper this way, using the colors you really want.  You can even color in the dots and leaves of this particular pattern if you want to.  The ribbon is from my stash and the "button"  over "best wishes" is made from another Sizzix flower die cut, which I put two holes in to thread the strip of cardstock through for a tie.  I hope you enjoy this card.

Freestyle Wednesday

Challenges are wonderful, but today I'm going freestyle! I planned this card out by starting with the sentiment. I stamped it willy-nilly the very first day I had my Great Friend set, but it's been sitting on my desk ever since. I then added the Kiwi Kiss and Pacific Point mattings to match the ink colors. After that I searched for paper. I decided to use the Kiwi Kiss print from the Urban Garden paper I just received last week. BUT, when I turned it over to add adhesive, I saw how cool the other pattern was and how it matched my Going Gray cardstock and I was hooked! I found this foil butterfly in my stash and I tried to "color" it with Kiwi Kiss using a puddle and my Blender Pen, but the color wouldn't stick so I left it golden. I added the ribbon and button last. Oh, and I give my friend, Diana, credit for reminding me to do something different with my corners. She sent me a card she made with these corners on it.
I hope you enjoy this totally me design.

Mojo Monday 88

Mojo! I hope you are enjoying your long weekend, and please remember to stop and think about all of the freedom we enjoy as a result of many who gave their lives. There are still military personnel in harm's way, so take a moment to say a prayer for their safety and for peace.
I used the colors from the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #7 and combined it with today's Mojo Monday Sketch. Please check out the Mojo site, they are having a fundraising drive with Stampin' Out Alzheimers. I donated, you can, too!

Cardstock: Pixie Pink, Always Artichoke, Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla
Stamps: Great Friend, Polka Dot Punches, Botanical Blooms
Ink: Pixie Pink, Mellow Moss
Accessories: Ribbon Originals, Kaiser Scrapbook rhinestones.

If I can help you find just what you need to make cards that make a difference or make someone's day, please let me know. Check out my website!

Kwerner #53

KwernerDesign Color Inspiration #53.  I didn't find the right way to use all of the colors for quite awhile. I am happy with my creation, but next time I'd probably heat emboss my flowers for a little sparkle. The card is for a retirement for a guy, so I think it's good the way it is.

Paper:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Textured Pacific Point
Ink:  Basic Black, Summer Sun, Real Red, Pacific Point
Stamps:  Eastern Blooms and Congrats from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

The Free and the Brave

In preparation for Memorial Day, I made this card in red, white and blue. In used a sketch from Splitcoast, SC139. I really like this layout. I'll be using it again for sure. The star is cut out of foil cardstock, but the photo doesn't show how it shines like a mirror.

Ink: Real Red, Craft White
Stamps: Fancy Flexible Phrases, The Free and the Brave
Tools:  Large Star Punch, Circle Punch, Heat Gun, Silver Embossing Powder

Pink, Black & White

Splitcoast has a Technique Lover's Challenge every Tuesday. I've been playing along and learning a lot! This (TLC221) is a "shutter" card and it was easier to make than it looks! Four scores and two cuts and then fold and decorate. Couldn't be easier! I decorated the various areas with stamps, layers, punches, designer papers and bling!
Paper: Pink Pirouette (textured), unknown designer scraps, Basic Black, Whisper White.
Ink: Basic Black
Stamps: Define Your Life, God's Beauty, Oval All
Punches: Scalloped Oval, Eyelet Border, Ticket Corner

Please feel free to contact me with questions or order your own Stampin' Up! products 24/7.
NEWS:
Stampin' Up! will be releasing their "Last Chance" list of retiring stamps on June 1st. I will have a link or the list for you here that day.

Kwerner #52

Somehow I did not know the challenge was posted, so I am late!  But here is my creation. The colors are:  Baja Breeze, So Saffron, More Mustard, White and Sahara Sand.  I used Designer Series Paper from Urban Garden and Delicate Dots.  The image is stamped from the Always set.  I haven't used the bird before, so that was fun.  I used my Curly Label Punch to make the corners in More Mustard. This card also fits the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #1.
Please shop with me 24/7 for all of your Stampin' Up! needs.

Mojo Monday 87

The Mojo sketch was hard for me this week. I made a mess making this card! But I do like how it turned out. I grabbed my colors from the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge Week 6. Check out the entries here.
I used Whisper White, Close to Cocoa and Cameo Coral cardstock and the flowers and solid color backgrounds from a piece of Pink Flamingo Designer Series Paper. Designer Series Paper packs are on sale this month only, buy 3, get one free! I have already taken advantage of this sale, but I think I'm going back for more before the month is over! Please contact me if you need any help placing your Stampin' Up order.

Cartoon Stamps

Our oldest son lives in Japan. He recently visited a famous stamp shop in the city of Kyoto that is well-known for it's creative stamps. The man in the stamp is Fukuzawa Yukichi, a samurai, professor and founder of Keio University (Japanese Ivy League) whose face is on the 10,000-yen bill. He is "recommending" whatever you stamp him on. The woman is laughing gently with a hand to her mouth, as was considered proper and lady-like. It says, "ho-h0-h0." I love foreign humor. I made up my own American-style captions for the two together and sent our son this thank-you card. I used Summer Sun, Very Vanilla and Basic Black cardstock with some Pink Flamingo DSP.

Personal Thank You

This card is one of my patriotic cards that I usually send off as a thank you to our troops through Operation Gratitude. This time, it's a personal thank you and hello greeting to a friend who is a Major in the Army. He's been gone since before Christmas and still has a ways to go before he can come home to his family. Inside I wrote a personal note. I chose a Yoyo Yellow background, which traditionally means those at home are waiting for a safe return, and it also pops out the red, white and blue theme. I used the starts from the Independence Day set and embossed them with clear embossing powder. The designer paper is unknown. I used stars from a packet of confetti under my United States Flag patch.

Put On Your Sunglasses-This is Bright!

I used the sketch from Our Creative Corner to plan this card. Also, my demonstrator group, Pretty Pals added a twist, with an inspiration from a Pottery Barn child's bedding ensemble for our colors. It was bright and cheery, if you can't guess! Also, there were owls on the bedspread, but I don't own any owl stamps. I substituted this cute guy from Fun & Fast Notes and that is where my creation began. I used two different Designer Papers, the Kiwi Kiss from Raspberry Tart, and two prints (Summer Sun and Tempting Turquoise) from Pink Flamingo DP.
I just placed my order, buying three Designer Series Paper Packs and earning one free! I can't wait to show you some different papers in the months to come. These paper packs are a good bargain in the first place, with 12 double-sided sheets (6 of each design) in a 12 x 12 size. They are excellent quality and they work for cards or scrapbooking. As you can see, you can mix and match the patterns and colors and come up with one-of-a-kind creations. If you would like to purchase your papers, please order with me today, this special is only good for the month of May.

Wow Box

Sandy Hancock's class was so fun! She always works out all the kinks and gives the best tips to assure that your project is smooth and easy, and this Wow Box was just that- smooth and easy! It looks very sophisticated, but it is very simple. It takes two full sheets of Designer Series Paper (here we used Pink Flamingo) and one half sheet of cardboard, such as the cardboard that comes in a package of DSP. For the inside, we made four cards (two pink, two blue) and we got to take home the rest of the half-pack of paper.
I'll be making more of these gorgeous boxes soon! Of course I will need lots of different prints of the Designer Series Paper, so I will be taking advantage of Stampin' Up's May-only special, buy three packs, get one free! (Click on promotions on my Demonstrator Site)

Mojo Monday 86

Good morning!  I hope your Mother's Day was relaxing.  Today's Mojo Monday Sketch was easy and fun. I also participated in the Technique Lover's Challenge 220 by putting extra "dots" on my Walk in the Park Designer paper with a Signo White Gel Pen.  I used my Eyelet Border Punch for the beautiful edges.  Paper:  Basic Gray, Going Gray, Basic Black, Shimmery White.  Stamps:  Great Friend, Independence Day (swirls around center panel).  Ink:  Basic Gray (stamped off for leaves), Yoyo Yellow.

Thanks for looking!  If you would like to order any Designer Series Paper and get one pack free for each three, please see my demonstrator site!

Clean and Simple

Splitcoast Stampers Clean and Simple Challenge #13 is where I got the inspiration for today's card. The idea is to have a card with lots of open space, little or no embellishments and limited layers. In other words, quick and easy to put together. On my base of Brocade Blue cardstock I used some cancelled postage stamps I had been saving. Behind the stamps I embossed an image from Itty Bitty Backgrounds. In place of a sixth postage stamp, I stamped an image from Independence Day and backed it on top and bottom with Real Red. I made this card to take to Operation Gratitude this weekend where I am helping assemble packages. They are always in need of any types of cards for soldiers to receive and use to send to loved ones at home. Thanks for looking!

Mojo Monday 85

A little late this week, but here is my creation.  I started with the little tree from the Forest Friends set in the Occasions Mini Catalog, framed with Certainly Celery. My background papers are from the Urban Garden Designer Series Paper.  For interest, I used a piece of Kraft paper and a jumbo eyelet to tack on my Certainly Celery ribbon.  I used Gray Taffeta for the final bow.

For all of your Stampin' Up needs, please visit my demonstrator site.  You can order 24/7!

Scene in a Garden

I used Scene in a Garden stamps to make this card. I cut out the table and popped it up with dimensionals.

I framed the three images and set them behind the popped up table, then matted the whole scene in Basic Black.

All images were colored by grabbing ink from the pad puddles with my blender pen. I enjoyed making this 3-D scene. Now I must go, my garden is calling....

Paper and Ink colors used: Basic Black, Whisper White, Soft Sky, Always Artichoke, Barely Banana.
